Once a quiet settlement hidden in the Iowa fields, Otter Offal Creek changed after the collapse. Food ran out. Hunger took over. Now the townsfolk survive by feeding on anyone unfortunate enough to wander through town.

The Kiron Haunted Trail is a half-mile walk-through experience held at Kiron South Park and hosted by the Kiron Community Club and the Kiron Fright Club. This year’s theme transports visitors into the post-apocalyptic settlement of Offal Creek — a once-forgotten town where food has run out, survival has turned savage, and outsiders are no longer considered guests… but supplies. The trail combines immersive storytelling, detailed sets, eerie characters, and intense scares into a terrifying journey through a community with a hunger for human flesh.
To help visitors choose their scare level, green and red glow sticks are available at the entrance. Red means a lighter experience with reduced scares, while green means the actors won’t hold back.
What is Kiddie Hour?
Kiddie Hour runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM and offers a free, walk-through experience. It’s great for younger kids or those who prefer a calmer atmosphere. You’ll get to see the decorations up close, explore the trail at your own pace, and catch a behind-the-scenes look as final setup and touch-ups take place. No jump scares—just a spooky, fun preview.

Want to be part of the Kiron Haunted Trail? We have several ways to get involved—whether you want to act, roam the trail, or help behind the scenes. All volunteers will have access snacks, drinks, and warm-up gear to keep you going throughout the night. If you’re a student, your time volunteering can count toward community service hours—just let us know if you need a form signed. Pick the role that fits you best and join the fun!
Concession and admission volunteers help serve food and drinks, handle cash, and keep things running smoothly. It’s a low-scare role but an important one, keeping guests welcomed and fueled.
Scare Actors help bring each scare to life. You’ll be assigned to one scene, take on a character or role, and interact with guests as they walk through. No experience needed, just show up, get creepy, and have fun.
Walkers dress in their own character and roam the trail, delivering surprise scares between scenes. It’s a great role for anyone who loves to improvise and stay on the move.
