About

A Half-Mile of Horror in Kiron

The Kiron Haunted Trail is a half-mile walk-through event held at Kiron South Park and hosted by the Kiron Community Club and the Kiron Fright Club. This year’s trail is split into two sections: one half features immersive scenes inspired by the terrifying works of Stephen King, and the other showcases entries from our Pop-Up Scare Contest, where local participants bring their own spooky creations to life. It’s a unique mix of storytelling and community creativity—all packed into a chilling half-mile experience.

Pick Your Level of Scare

To help visitors choose their level of scare, we offer green and red glow stick options at the entrance. Grab a red glow stick if you prefer a lighter experience—actors will know to hold back on jump scares and intense interactions. Choose a green glow stick if you’re ready for the full haunted trail experience—no holding back. It’s a simple way to make sure everyone enjoys the trail at their own comfort level.

What is Kiddie Hour?

Kiddie Hour runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM and offers a free, walk-through experience. It’s great for younger kids or those who prefer a calmer atmosphere. You’ll get to see the decorations up close, explore the trail at your own pace, and catch a behind-the-scenes look as final setup and touch-ups take place. No jump scares—just a spooky, fun preview.

Pop-Up Scare Contest

Think you’ve got a terrifying idea worth bringing to life? Enter our Pop-Up Scare Contest and show us what you’ve got. This is your chance to design and create your own mini scare scene—creepy, clever, or downright disturbing. Entries will be featured along one half of the Kiron Haunted Trail for thousands of visitors to experience. All submissions will be judged during the event, and the winner will take home $1,000. Whether you’re a horror pro or just love Halloween, this is your moment to shine (or terrify).

DEADline to enter is October 1.

Volunteer on the Trail

Want to be part of the Kiron Haunted Trail? We have several ways to get involved—whether you want to act, roam the trail, or help behind the scenes. All volunteers will have access to our Volunteer Hospitality Golf Cart, stocked with snacks, drinks, and warm-up gear to keep you going throughout the night. If you’re a student, your time volunteering can count toward community service hours—just let us know if you need a form signed. Pick the role that fits you best and join the fun!

Concession Stand/Admission

Concession and admission volunteers help serve food and drinks, handle cash, and keep things running smoothly. It’s a low-scare role but an important one, keeping guests welcomed and fueled.

Scare Actors

Scare Actors help bring each scare to life. You’ll be assigned to one scene, take on a character or role, and interact with guests as they walk through. No experience needed, just show up, get creepy, and have fun.

Trail Walkers

Walkers dress in their own character and roam the trail, delivering surprise scares between scenes. It’s a great role for anyone who loves to improvise and stay on the move.
